Food carts are popping up everywhere in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area. Gone are the days of taco trucks, hot dog stands and burger pits. Now, gourmet cuisine is becoming the norm as food carts and street food become more and more sophisticated, catering to what customers are looking for. A great example of this is the RoliRoti truck that has become a staple of the Ferry Building Farmers Market, along with several other stops in the Bay Area.
Whenever you visit the Ferry Building on Thursdays and Saturdays, restaurants and food carts are almost always on hand, preparing food for hungry patrons looking for a quick bite. While many have loyal customers and lengthy waits, the longest lines are almost always in front of the RoliRoti truck. While it is well known for keeping the rotisserie going throughout the day, most wait in line for one thing: the porchetta sandwich.

The RoliRoti truck is the country’s first mobile rotisserie. The truck heads to select farmer’s markets across the Bay Area seven days a week, delivering wonderful food to its ardent customers. The one catch is that the famed porchetta sandwich is only available at the Ferry Building in San Francisco on Thursdays and Saturdays and at the Blue Bottle Coffee Shop Front in Oakland the first Friday of each month.
Rotisseur Thomas Odermatt has mastered the art of rotisserie grilling and it is seen in each item he serves at his truck. The meat is tender and juicy with such unbelievable flavor. The porchetta sandwich itself was perfect. The meat, bread, greens and caramelized onions were all spot on. Be forewarned, you should come hungry as the sandwich is a beast.

You can also purchase a whole or half rotisserie chicken, combos with sides, or just some potatoes that have been cooking under the chickens. The line may be long, but is well worth the wait.
The RoliRoti truck makes its way around the Bay Area seven days a week.
